I don't keep my chocolate addiction a secret. I AM NOT ASHAMED. And I use the word addiction loosely. Just because I make the sign of the cross when I pass the Nutella in the grocery store and regularly disappointment my grandchildren because I've eaten all the chocolate chips meant for baking cookies doesn't mean I have a problem. I did once steal some chocolate squares in Home Economics when I was 13 but I had poor impulse control then. I would NEVER steal chocolate now.
I would ask first.
This Mug Cake is homemade and it is delicious. Unlike the Mug Cake Mixes you buy at the grocery story, this one does not taste like plastic or rubber or, let's face it, FAKE. It is made with real chocolate and even a bit of love if you want to get fancy. And it takes just 5 minutes from start to finish. As someone that regularly wishes they had baked that day and wants something chocolaty and sweet, RIGHT NOW, this fits the bill.
CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE RECIPE
1/4 cup flour
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1/4 tsp baking powder
2-3 tbsp sugar depending on desired sweetness
1/8 tsp salt
1/4 plus 1 tbsp milk
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp chocolate chips or hazelnut spread (or peanut butter or jam or whatever you like)
You will also need a mug or small bowl that holds 14 oz. It needs to be microwave safe.
Mix your dry ingredients together. Mix your wet ingredients together.
Mix wet with dry ingredients and put into mug.
Put your tablespoon of preferred filling on top of the mix. It will sink. Wave goodbye. You will see it later when you are eating the Mug Cake.
Bake in the microwave, on high for approximately 70 seconds. My microwave is 1000 w. Your cook time will vary depending on your microwave so adjust the time accordingly but it won't need to be much. Just a few seconds.
It's ready when it comes out of the microwave but be warned. It is HOT. Steaming hot. And that filling you saw disappear is REALLY HOT. But, it is also delicious! Eat it and enjoy!
Stay safe my lovelies.
